Last week, #BULawProf Jack Beermann brought students from his Supreme Court Decisionmaking class–including Jack Dunn (’26), Steven Mitchell (’26), Ciara Gerendas (’26), Emily Bolles (’26), Maneesa Ghotbi (’26), Connor Kilkelly (’26), Jack Leary (’26), Caitlyn Sievers (’26), Uri Brookmyer (’26), Robert Madden (’26), and Gregory Bowe (’26)–to Washington, DC to hear arguments at the United States Supreme Court.

The case involved the Rooker-Feldman doctrine, which prevents lower federal courts from becoming court of appeals for state court decisions. Professor Beermann and other federal court scholars submitted an amici curiae brief for the case, which relied extensively on his article, “Comments on Rooker-Feldman or Let State Law Be Our Guide” published in the Notre Dame Law Review in 1999.
