Aesthetic medicine is entering a domain that, until recently, belonged exclusively to internal medicine and longevity science.
At AMWC Monaco I sat down with Valerie Matamo, President of corporationvm Corporation, to talk about hack.yourskin V-Hacker and why mitochondria are becoming a primary therapeutic target in aesthetics.
What does that mean clinically?
GHK-Cu is a copper tripeptide that activates TGF-β and stimulates fibroblasts to produce type I and III collagen. It acts as a free radical chelator and modulates the expression of repair genes, including MMPs responsible for extracellular matrix remodeling. The result: improved skin density and faster recovery after ablative procedures.
Epitalon is a tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) that activates telomerase the enzyme responsible for maintaining telomere length in dividing cells. Shorter telomeres mean accelerated replicative aging of fibroblasts. Epitalon slows this process, extending the biological regenerative potential of the tissue.
NAD⁺ is a cofactor essential for the function of mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes I and II. Its levels decline by approximately 50% between the ages of 40 and 60. NAD⁺ deficiency translates to reduced ATP production, increased oxidative stress, and activation of pro-inflammatory pathways. Topical supplementation supports mitochondrial biogenesis and activation of sirtuins SIRT1/SIRT3, which regulate DNA repair mechanisms.
The formula is further supported by buffered succinate 1.8% as a mitochondrial substrate and anti-inflammatory signal, and multi-molecular weight hyaluronic acid providing the optimal tissue environment for these reactions.
