Her Legacy | Episode 22

A champion of the 1920s whose rivalry helped shape the early history of women’s golf in Colorado.

Ruth Harrison captured three consecutive CWGA Match Play Championships beginning in 1927, establishing herself as one of the dominant players of her era.

Each victory came against a rising young competitor — Phyllis Buchanan, a talented teenager who would later become a Hall of Famer herself.

Harrison was also a standout at her home club, winning four Denver Country Club women’s championships.

Her success helped set the stage for the growth and competitiveness of women’s golf in Colorado.

Her Legacy lives on.
