#USOC2026: stlcitysc and chicagofire have met just once in the Open Cup. In a match between a young franchise in St. Louis versus a Chicago club with four U.S. Open Cup wins in six Final appearances, it was the visitors from St. Louis that prevailed with a 2-1 win. 

Chicago opened the scoring in the 64th minute when Anton Salétros headed a pass from Philip Zinckernagel into the net from close range. St. Louis City’s Eduard Lowen helped set-up the equalizer, with Tomas Totland scoring, and then Lowen smashed home a goal of his own to give St Louis its first lead of the game in the 78th minute. Lowen has only recently returned from compassionate leave, having lost his wife to brain cancer. 

St. Louis City SC will play the Houston Dynamo in the Quarterfinals on either May 19 or 20.
