📢🗣️ It’s National Be Heard Day!! A day dedicated to empowering small business owners to #assertively promote themselves AND their businesses! 

🎉 And in honor of Women’s History Month, today we’re featuring a FEMALE-OWNED local business, Kung Fu Tea 🧋

👋 Meet Cindy Perez, a former corporate worker turned entrepreneur, who shared her journey of opening two Kung Fu Tea locations - the first in Montclair and the second, more recently, in our 48 New Street retail space right here in Downtown Newark. Despite facing challenges, such as adjusting to the entrepreneurial world and dealing with contractors who preferred working with men, Perez persevered with the support of her husband and her passion for bubble tea.

🎙️ “It was intimidating at first, but the more I did it, the easier it became,” explained Perez. “One thing I learned very quickly was that I needed to be more assertive and confident if I wanted to get things done.”

📝 Cindy emphasizes the importance of trusting one’s instincts, taking risks, and embracing the uncertainties that come with entrepreneurship. “There is no recipe for opening a business, you learn as you go,” she said. “It will be a lot of work, but it is very rewarding and such a great accomplishment.  At the end of the day, you are your own boss.”
