What I’ve always loved about architecture is its ability to transform ordinary spaces into places that hold life’s fondest memories. I fell in love with policy and the power it holds to influence outcomes related to the design of cities, realizing I didn’t just want to design buildings, I wanted to advocate for more equitable and intentional communities.

In my freshman year, my dream of becoming an architect gradually shifted towards a pursuit of becoming an attorney. The faculty, professors, my classmates, and my dean supported this new path in ways I could never have imagined, even when they didn’t 100% understand. During moments of fear, they kept me encouraged. The School of Architecture has given me some of my closest friends at PV, whom I now consider family. A big shoutout to ACI, Labib’s studio, AIAS, and all the amazing people I’ve grown to love from our random encounters in the building. Together, we’ve created and documented stories that we will one day share with our children. I have so many “hey kids” videos to find and send, lol. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow alongside all of you and share so many unforgettable experiences.

Thank you for always showing up for me: birthdays, a pageant, campaigns, surgery, concerts, speeches, award ceremonies, car accidents, and so much more. Thank you for being my biggest advocates, cheerleaders, and confidants, and for wiping every tear I’ve shed over these four years. I love you all more than I can express, and I truly cannot wait to see how our relationships continue to evolve in the field and in friendship.

Architecture has undoubtedly taught me how to handle criticism and defend my beliefs, but it has also shown me the importance of refining my vision, much like the iterations in design. Life will often require you to adapt and change your initial plans, but that never means giving up on your project.

Thank you SoA! 💫
