One morning I walked into that school, got her laptop, emptied her locker, and never went back.

Everyone said I was making a mistake.

“Don’t let her win.” 
“She’s playing you.” 
“You’re making it worse.”

But my gut said something different. Her body wouldn’t let her walk through those doors - and I know now that’s not defiance. 

That’s a nervous system in alarm.

More pressure doesn’t switch the alarm off. 
It turns it up.

The day I stopped making her go, the pressure came off her shoulders. 
Same day.

She missed 100+ days of school. 
She got into her first choice university.

The nervous system comes first. 
Nobody told me that. 
Not one professional.
