Teachers in Wales are warning that new GCSE requirements introduced in September 2025 are causing "intolerable strain”.
 
A recent survey showed that non-examined assessments, known as NEAs, are leading to burnout among staff and pupils, with many saying they were experiencing severe stress, exhaustion and a sense of being overwhelmed.
