“We are hereby requesting that no funding for South Carolina State University be included in the second version of the budget.” 📍Amid the ongoing SC State University commencement speaker controversy and the cancellation of Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette as the speaker, nine members of the South Carolina House of Representatives wrote a letter requesting to take away funding from the HBCU in the second version of the budget. 

-If you are new to this story, earlier this week, SC State University students led various  protest on campus against the planned commencement speaker, Republican Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette.

Yesterday, April 29th, the University President addressed students on campus and announced that he was rescinding the invitation to have Evette speak.
