RIP 60 year old Farnaz “Nancy” Farahani 💔🕊️

A grieving Ottawa son is speaking out after the tragic loss of his mother, 60 year old Farnaz “Nancy” Farahani, who was killed inside her Barrhaven home on April 23.

Her eldest son Arya Farahani describes her as a woman who loved deeply and lived for others. He says she was loud, vibrant and full of life, someone who brought energy and warmth wherever she went. 

He shared that she cared for everyone around her, including her elderly mother, and was always trying to hold her family together even during difficult times.

Arya says he had been estranged from his younger brother for years and described him as struggling with multiple mental health issues and diagnosed disorders, which created tension within the family. 

Despite this, he says his mother never gave up on either of her sons and always pushed for reconciliation, believing strongly in forgiveness and unconditional love.

Police have charged a 30 year old man in connection with the incident. The charges have not been proven in court.

Through his grief, Arya says he wants people to remember his mother for the life she lived, not just the way she died. 

He says she was the type of person who would do anything for her children and anyone in need, and that her kindness left a lasting impact on so many people.

A celebration of life is now being planned in her honour, something he says reflects exactly who she was, as someone who would want to be remembered with love rather than sadness.
