Rest in peace 4 year old Eliyah 🤧💔🕊️

An Ottawa family is sharing their heartbreak after the devastating loss of their 4 year old son, Eliyah Pirani, who died after falling from a high rise apartment in Sandy Hill earlier this week.

“He loves animals, he loves nature, he loves painting… he was such a nice brother,” his mother said, remembering the joyful and caring child he was.

His father added, “He was a very nice little boy. A gifted guy who was given to us by God, by our prayers.”

The incident happened on a warm day when a window in Eliyah’s bedroom had been opened. His mother described the terrifying moment she realized something was wrong.

“I thought, why is it so quiet suddenly… where is Eliyah? I called him.” Moments later, she made the discovery and immediately called 911, running downstairs barefoot trying to reach her son as quickly as possible.

The family says the window in his room fully opened, while others in the unit only open slightly. The building’s management company stated that window restrictors are required and should not be altered, and that no prior issues had been reported.

The family, however, says there was no restrictor on that specific window.

Through unimaginable pain, the family is leaning on support from loved ones. “Friends, family, is all a person needs at this moment because heart is broken and loneliness is the most prominent thing that we feel,” he added.

His mother shared a message no parent should ever have to say. “I wish it for no one. It’s unbearable for sure.”

Ottawa police say the incident is not considered suspicious, but the investigation remains ongoing.

A heartbreaking reminder of how quickly life can change, and a moment that has left an entire community shaken.
