A heartfelt thank you to CBS 8 San Diego and journalist Jenny Day for highlighting the powerful impact of our Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers — and for helping raise the voices of children in foster care. 

In this moving feature, Jenny spoke with:
🔹 Jessica Muñoz, Esq., MFS, our President & CEO
🔹 Josh B., a remarkable former youth in foster care 
🔹 Gwen S., a devoted CASA volunteer of 8 years 

Josh shared how his CASA, Tim, “showed up to everything — football games, wrestling, court — and over time, allowed me to trust him.” That trust changed the trajectory of his life. Today, Josh has earned his master’s degree and is now giving back to the community that once gave to him.

Gwen, who became a CASA after surviving breast cancer, shared: “You get so much out of it — just like the kid gets so much out of it. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a place in their heart for children.”

Our President & CEO, Jessica Muñoz, reminded viewers that: “We need to build the kind of community we want to be part of in the future. Children are absolutely essential to that, and it is truly possible — there is really something all of us can do.”
