Meet Sarah, who was removed from her home and entered the foster care system just before starting kindergarten. With so many unexpected changes in her day-to-day life, her teachers noticed she struggled in certain areas and would most likely need extra help to not fall behind in school. 

Sarah then met Julie, her Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). With CASA Julie by her side, Sarah was able to succeed. CASA Julie worked with Sarah's teachers, social workers, parents, and grandparents to advocate for individualized therapy to improve Sarah's speech and motor skills. Aside from working with the various adults in Sarah's life, CASA Julie got to know Sarah. Every week, she would take Sarah on a different experience and allow her to just be a kid. CASA Julie learned that she loves books📚, is really into finger painting🎨, eats every fruit except pineapple🍍, and wants to be a teacher👩‍🏫 when she grows up. Most importantly, Sarah trusted her CASA.

Sarah is now at the top of her class and thriving in second grade. She was adopted into a safe home with her grandparents. During her time in foster care, she had many different professionals involved in her case, but she only ever had one CASA.
