There is a ton of money in professional sports, especially in the NBA. Today’s top basketball players are making hundreds of millions of dollars, but before inflation and fights for players rights, there was a time that even the top paid superstars were getting paid somewhat normal looking numbers. It is very interesting and somewhat nostalgic to look back at NBA’s Top-Paid Players for the 1985-1986 NBA Season.

These players include Magic Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers, Moses Malone of the Philadelphia 76ers, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the LA Lakers, Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics, Julius Erving, Patrick Ewing of the New York Knicks, Marques Johnson of the Los Angeles Clippers, Kevin McHale, Akeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets, Alex English of the Denver Nuggets, Darryl Dawkins of the New Jersey Nets, Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons, Dave Corzine of the Chicago Bulls, Mike Mitchell of the San Antonio Spurs, Tom Chambers of the Seattle SuperSonics, Jack Sikma, Bernard King, Joe Barry Carroll of the Golden State Warriors, Jamaal Wilkes, Dan Roundfield of the Washington Bullets, Adrian Dantley of the Utah Jazz, Calvin Natt, and many others. 

Although this was 40 years ago, it’s crazy to look back and see how much has changed. Many of the teams also have different names or have relocated, such as the Washington Wizards, Brooklyn Nets, and Oklahoma City Thunder. How many of these basketball legends do you recognize?
