The Kiowa Tribe has welcomed a new member to its buffalo herd.

A calf named Kauy Mah Taun Ee, also known as Marcia, was born May 4 — the first buffalo calf born on Kiowa land.

The herd was introduced to Kiowa land in Oklahoma in March 2025 as part of a broader buffalo restoration effort.

Her birth brings the herd’s total to 16.
