Some US politicians are raising the possibility of using the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office.⁣
⁣
Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, once a close ally, said in a social media post that it should be considered. The amendment sets out how presidential power can be transferred.⁣
⁣
Ratified after President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, Section 4 allows removal if a president is unable to carry out their duties. It has never been used to remove a sitting president.⁣
⁣
The process would require Vice President JD Vance and a majority of the cabinet to act. If challenged, Congress would need a two-thirds majority in both chambers.⁣
⁣
There is no sign the process is underway. Trump and Vance continue to work closely, including on Iran-related diplomacy.⁣
