Midwives are key to ending preventable maternal and newborn deaths, yet the world faces an acute shortage of these essential providers.

When crises strike and systems collapse, midwives step up — delivering vital sexual, reproductive, maternal and newborn health services that save lives. Whether during climate disasters or conflict, they are often the first — and sometimes only — responders for women.

On Tuesday’s #DayOfTheMidwife and every day, our colleagues from unfpa, the #UnitedNations sexual and reproductive health agency, work to train and support these essential providers.

Join us in thanking midwives around the world for their important mission!
