Play Idea:
✨Each bird expresses a different emotion: happy, sad, angry, confused, and sleepy! 
✨Hold up each bird, let the child describe what they see (tears, closed eyes, raised wings, etc.), and help them name the correct emotion. 
✨Next, ask the child why they think the bird feels that way. Maybe the bird is happy to be with its mommy or sad because it’s hungry. 

There are no wrong answers! Labeling and contextualizing emotions in this way is a natural SEL connection. To reinforce this learning, call out a feeling (“sad”), or hold up a connection bird expressing that emotion for the child to imitate. Which bird describes how you’re feeling? 👇
