Under the Sea Calm Down Box! Checkout our Reels tab for a video version 🎥 This is a great calming sensory activity for kids that you can customize with different bins, colors, and accessories. These would also make a fun gift for your adult friends too! 😉

~SUPPLIES~
🌊 Sand or sensory base of choice
🌊A bin or tray
🌊Accessories, such as sea animals! We used the Under the Sea Ocean Counters from Learning Resources. You can also add shells, rocks, driftwood, or other items of your choosing.
🌊Something to use as a rake. A wooden fork would also work!

~Next Steps~
1. Pick out your containers.
2. Add sand.
3. Fill your containers, but don’t fill them too much. You want to make designs in your sand with a rake and not have any sand spill out.
4. Choose your calm down box accessories. This is the fun part!
5. Give your kids a chance to try out the different rakes and play around with drawing designs in their sand.

This activity can help kiddos self-regulate, regain a normal heart rate, and center themselves. Calm down boxes are focused on sensory exercises that can ground us by feeling, smelling, hearing, or practicing our breathing. You can make these mini boxes into any theme! Comment your ideas!
