9 days to go until the inaugural Gator Nurses Day! 💙🐊 Today we’re celebrating #GatoRNurse faculty member Dr. Hwayoung Cho (PhD ’17), who has been honored with the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award for Nursing Research by the Columbia University School of Nursing, its highest recognition for graduates. The award was presented on April 24 during the Alumni Reunion & Dean’s Dinner in New York City.

This prestigious honor recognizes Dr. Cho’s outstanding contributions to the nursing profession, including her pioneering work in AI, health informatics, and implementation science. With a strong portfolio of NIH-funded research and high-impact publications, she continues to advance innovation in nursing research and technology-enabled care. Her achievement brings national visibility to UF College of Nursing and highlights its growing leadership in data-driven research and nursing informatics.
