## Caption

NANAIMO BARS ~ these came out a little more “rustic” than I would have liked, but they more than make up for it in sweet deliciousness. The base is a graham cracker/coconut/walnut crust, then a layer of sweet custard and topped with a layer of dark chocolate.

These are courtesy of our neighbors to the north - specifically, Nanaimo in British Columbia. It was popularized nationwide after being featured as a “classic Canadian dessert” at Expo 86
