Bill Laboon is the Vice President of Ecosystem at the Web3 Foundation, which supports decentralised web software and builds Web 3.0, where users control their data, identity, and value. 

“I know that the vast majority of interactions (on social media) are bots. It's one person or one entity that's controlling thousands or hundreds of thousands or millions of accounts. We actually have a way of doing decentralized proof of personhood, that is one person is going to have one account. From there, decentralised identity solutions can be layered on top of this.”

Web3 Foundation promotes secure transactions, decentralised systems, and open-source blockchain projects shaping a fair digital future.

Bill plays a key role in shaping the long-term direction of the Polkadot, Kusama, JAM, and broader Web3 ecosystem.

“We did a test run called spamming on Kusama. We had well over 100,000 transactions per second. Our focus is to help PolkaDot evolve into this new form where we have the key people that are building the end user applications and not just the infrastructure.”

At the Web3 Foundation, Bill is also focused on OpenGov initiatives, technical education, staking support, and decentralised node operations. 

“I have found blockchain technology something that's going to be very useful for the world and what we're seeing is finally others waking up to this right important players.”
