👇🏼 Day 3 of our 7-Day Madeira Itinerary 🇵🇹🌿

We’ve spent over 6 months on this magical island, and this week we’re sharing exactly how we recommend spending 1 week in Madeira 😍

Here’s how we suggest spending Day 3:

🌳 Early morning: Fanal Forest

This spot feels like something out of a fairytale – especially if you catch it in the fog! But even on a sunny day, it’s so beautiful (and you can even see the sea).

We suggest heading here as early as you’re comfortable with for a better chance of getting the perfect foggy conditions. And bring a warm sweater as it can get cold!

🥾 Late morning/midday: 25 Fontes Waterfall 💦

After checking out the Fanal Forest, head to Rabaçal (about 20 mins away) to hike 25 Fontes.

On this hike, you’re going to be surrounded by a lush, green mountain range in the center of Madeira, where you’ll find blueberry and dandelion bushes bigger than humans (they’re huge!).

We usually pack lunch and eat along the trail, and if you’re feeling brave, bring your swimsuit!

Cascata das 25 Fontes is cold, but sooo refreshing 🥶

Pro tip: There’s a coffee shop about 1km into the hike where you can buy a (slightly overpriced) coffee and use the restroom before you continue into the forest ☕️

🌊 Afternoon: Swim in the lava pools in Porto Moniz

Madeira has quite a few natural swimming pools, but the ones in Porto Moniz are hands down the best ones!

Go hang out here for a few hours and relax after the hike 😎

What to bring:
🧥 Warm layer (for Fanal)
🥾 Hiking shoes (we wear columbia1938)
👙 Swimsuit + towel
🧴 Sunscreen
💧 Water + snacks
📸 Camera or phone – and maybe a power bank 😉
🥪 Lunch, since this will be a full day

🍽️ Where to eat in Porto Moniz:
• Snack Bar Ilheu Mole (snack_bar_ilheu_mole_pm) – closes at 7pm
• Conchinha Bar (conchinha.bar)
