Is Bangkok’s famous gold Dior cafè worth the hype or an overpriced trap? I went to find out if we should add it to our BKK itineraries🕵️

Housed inside the iconic gold Dior building, with a menu created by a 3-Michelin-starred chef and incredibly beautiful interior - this cafe quickly hit many of the ‘top things to do in Bangkok’ lists. But would I recommend adding it to your itinerary? Let’s break it down:

The Vibe 5/5
I really loved the energy here. It’s notoriously hard to get a table - reservations open twice a month & it books out quickly. But the benefit of this system is that there was no queuing, no overcrowding, and a relaxed vibe as soon as you arrive.

The Service 5/5
The wait staff were welcoming, helpful & polite, and great with Tim’s allergies! Perfect service. 

The Food & Drink 4/5
The cafe serves 5 cakes, 5 pastries, 2 ice creams & 4 savoury dishes. 

I had the signature La Rose dessert (swipe to see), which was delicious & very fresh. We also had coffees, rosè wine and a cocktail. Everything was perfect. However, the menu is extremely limited so if you have allergies you need to check it before you go. Poor Tim couldn’t eat (I’ll send the menu to you if you comment ‘DETAILS’)

The Price
We paid 2,600THB (£30pp) for the above. Expensive - especially for Bangkok - but for the experience, service, food quality and setting I felt the price was fair. 

The Verdict 
This is a designer cafe done extremely well. I’ve been to many themed / designer cafes on our travels, and some brands just slap their name on a menu & charge a lot for food. But a lot of time and effort went into creating this experience, and it’s absolutely worth a visit and the price in my opinion. 

I wouldn’t put it on your itinerary purely for the coffee, but if you like luxury cafes and aesthetic spots - I’d definitely go!
