What happens if a Chief Minister refuses to step down after losing power? The Indian Constitution has clear mechanisms to ensure democratic transition cannot be blocked.

➡️ Article 164 allows the Governor to dismiss a CM who has lost majority support.
➡️ Article 172 fixes the Assembly’s term, after which the government’s authority expires automatically.
➡️ The Governor must invite the new majority leader to form the government once results are notified.
➡️ In extreme situations, Article 356 allows President’s Rule if the transition is obstructed.
