It’s a beautiful #StormSurvivorSunday to discover one of Galveston’s historic homes during the 52nd Annual Historic Homes Tour!

Every historic home on the island holds countless stories—but for two weekends each year, you don’t just admire them… you step inside.

The 1886 Adolph & Lena Nitsche Home has been beautifully restored. Their original house on this site was lost in the Fire of 1885, but the Nitsches rebuilt soon after—creating a simple yet stately home that still stands today.

After serving in the Civil War, Adolph settled in Galveston as a tailor. He passed away at 64, just before the Great Storm of 1900. Lena remained in the home until 1914, when it passed to its next stewards.
