This #DeepDay, we’re shining a light on the array of colorful marine life that calls the deep sea home. 

Life in this part of the ocean is ruled by a complete absence of light, but under that cloak of darkness is a vast and fragile ecosystem, home to countless animals – many of which have yet to be discovered. 
 
But now the Trump administration is working to fast-track ocean mining, meaning areas of this important ecosystem could be destroyed long before we ever have a chance to understand it.
