Today would have been Owen Hart's 61st birthday. The youngest of Stu and Helen Hart's twelve children was born in Calgary on May 7, 1965, and his niece natbynature marked the day with a video tribute on her socials.

"It reminds me of Owen in happier times, when Owen was full of hope and thinking about all of his dreams," Nattie said. "And it reminds me of how much Owen loved wrestling."

In Bret Hart's "Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling" and Nattie's "The Last Hart Beating," the family has documented a fuller portrait of Owen as a generous brother, attentive father, and a husband who put his family above all else.

When Nattie's 13-year-old cousin Matt died from a rare strep infection in 1996, Owen quietly paid for the entire funeral so Matt's parents wouldn't have additional stress. He and his wife Martha then sent Matt's parents on a trip to Hawaii to help them get through the grief.

In 1989, Owen and Martha paid cash for their first home, having "worked very hard, saving every penny."

When the WWF toured Israel in 1991, Bret writes that Owen wrote a prayer at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem asking for safe return to Martha and their son Oje.

At Hart House, before Sunday dinners, Owen would teach his young nephews how to do backflips off the top rope. "He always knew how to have fun and was very mischievous, being the baby of the family," Nattie writes.

And on WrestleMania V weekend in 1989, Owen called Stu's hotel room pretending to be British bodybuilder Reg Park, riling Stu up so badly that he nearly went to the lobby to confront him. When Stu slammed the phone down, his words: "That was Owen. The little bastard got me!"

"It's really, really important, especially with the Dungeon, for TJ and I to help also keep Owen's legacy alive," Nattie said. "Because there was no one like him."
