Comedian and internet personality Nasser Al-Rayess, affectionately known as the “Shawarma King,” brought students together with laughter and camaraderie at the Arab Student Union, end-of-year banquet April 30.

According to ASU’s Instagram post, the annual banquet is a time to celebrate community. From the start of the banquet at 5:30 p.m., there was an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation for the “Shawarma King” as students greeted each other and enjoyed the buffet catered by Lotus Falafel and Shawerma, as well as Ahwak Coffee.

“Enjoy these years of your life as much as possible,” Al-Rayess said to conclude his set. “Cal made me who I am … You are at the best school in the f---ing world.”
