Nothing could shake the smile from Senior Constable Vivienne’s face as she waited for her son to walk through the station doors for handover.⁣
⁣
After recently graduating - another proud mum moment - Constable Max began his career in Echuca, alongside her.⁣
⁣
At 44, Vivienne started her policing journey with all her children still at home, backed by the support of her husband.⁣
⁣
It’s something Max says he’s always been proud of ‘the courage it took to start a new career while also raising three kids’.⁣
⁣
For her, it’s always been about people, especially being there on someone’s worst day. Now, she shares that same purpose with her son.⁣
⁣
As a young child, Vivienne remembers him saying, “I want to be the guy who bangs the door down.”⁣
⁣
Now, he describes the experience as humbling, having grown up watching his mum in uniform and the way she’s always carried herself on the job.⁣
⁣
In turn, she’s seeing that same determination play out, offering guidance where she can and reminding him to take care along the way.⁣
⁣
These days, their conversations go beyond family life.⁣
⁣
Max reaches out for advice, and Vivienne is proud to support him through both the rewarding and more challenging parts of the job – with a patience he describes as ‘saint-like’.⁣

And like any mum, she’s looking forward to what comes next.⁣
⁣
