BREAKING:

a massive warehouse fire in Belleville last night has prompted a state of emergency in the township’s inustrial Valley section. No civilian injuries have been reported at this time and the fire was put out early this morning, although several buildings are still on watch. 

The fire began on Cortlandt Street at a mattress warehouse and quickly spread to multiple nearby warehouses, according to Belleville Mayor Michael A. Melham. 

Officials are urging residents to avoid the Cortlandt Street area. At this time, all Belleville public schools are closed Monday, May 4, along with multiple road closures in the surrounding area.
