COME RUN MY FIRST EVER MARATHON WITH ME AS A SLOW RUNNER 🏃🏻‍♀️ Last year, I ran my first ever half marathon… and this year, I came back to run the full!! If you asked me 5 years ago if I would ever run a marathon, I would’ve literally laughed in your face. I used to despise running. I saw it as a way to punish my body, to lose weight, to burn calories. But 2 years ago, the worst thing in my life happened. I lost my dad. And in a weird way, running became the only thing that could clear my mind. It is such a privilege to run. A privilege to move our bodies. A privilege to train, to fuel, to breathe, and to just be alive. I am so proud of my body. Not just for completing the marathon, but for carrying me through months of training. For every hard run, every early morning, every moment I didn’t think I could keep going. And most of all, I’m proud that after living through my worst nightmare, I’m able to smile and feel happiness again. My dad used to say it would be such a dream to run a marathon. And seeing our names side by side, I knew I wasn’t alone on the course that day. I was surrounded by friends, family, the most positive energy, and a city that made me fall in love with it all over again. And of course … my dad, who I know will always go out of his way to send me signs, just to remind me that I’m never alone. TAKE THIS AS YOUR SIGN TO TRY THE THINGS YOU ONCE HATED… because you never know, it might just change your life 🥹🫶🏻 @bmovanmarathon I’ll be back again next year!! #marathon #run #runnerscommunity #vlog #vancouver
