❗️Subaru just built the BRZ everyone has been begging for... but turned it into a rally weapon instead of a road car.

The Boxer Rally Spec.Z is a heavily modified version of the Subaru BRZ, created specifically for competition in Japan’s national rally series.

Instead of sticking with the BRZ’s usual rear-wheel-drive setup, Subaru completely re-engineered it with a turbocharged 2.4L boxer engine and a full all-wheel-drive system, basically giving it WRX DNA.

Power is a big jump too, with around 270+ horsepower and massive torque gains thanks to the turbo, paired to a 6-speed sequential rally gearbox for rapid shifts.

Beyond the drivetrain, this thing is a full rally build: wider body, rally suspension setup, upgraded brakes, and a chassis tuned for loose surfaces like gravel and dirt stages.

What makes it even crazier is the context, Subaru usually rallies WRX-based cars, but this time they chose the lightweight BRZ platform for better balance and a lower center of gravity, which drivers say massively improves cornering speed.

It’ll officially debut in the Japanese Rally Championship this May under Subaru Team Arai, with veteran driver Toshihiro Arai behind the wheel.

The catch?

You can’t buy it.

This is strictly a motorsport project, even though it’s basically the AWD turbo BRZ enthusiasts have wanted for years.

So the real question is... if Subaru already built the perfect AWD turbo BRZ, what’s stopping them from putting it into production?
