At Jogye Temple in Seoul, on Wednesday, the 130-centimetre-tall robot stood before fellow human monks as it pledged to devote itself to Buddhism.⁣

The robot monk folded its hands and bowed to the monks presiding over the ceremony as one monk carefully placed a rosary around its neck.⁣
