સુરત જિલ્લાના કીમ ચારરસ્તા નજીક આજે ભીષણ આગની ઘટના સામે આવી છે. કીમ ચારરસ્તા પાસે આવેલી ભાગ્યોદય હોટેલની બાજુમાં આવેલા પૂઠાંના ગોડાઉનમાં અચાનક આગ ફાટી નીકળી હતી. ગોડાઉનમાં મોટા પ્રમાણમાં પૂઠાંનો જથ્થો હોવાથી આગે ઝડપથી વિકરાળ સ્વરૂપ ધારણ કર્યું હતું. આગના ધુમાડાના ગોટેગોટા દૂર દૂર સુધી જોવા મળ્યા હતા. આગ એટલી ભયાનક હતી કે બાજુમાં આવેલા વાહન રિપેરિંગ ગેરેજને પણ પોતાની લપેટમાં લઈ લીધું હતું. ઘટનામાં ગેરેજમાં ઉભેલા ત્રણ મોટા ટેમ્પા બળીને ખાખ થઈ ગયા હતા. આગ લાગતા આસપાસના વિસ્તારમાં અફરાતફરીનો માહોલ સર્જાયો હતો. ઘટનાની જાણ થતા સુમિલોન કંપનીના ફાયર વિભાગની ટીમ તાત્કાલિક સ્થળ પર પહોંચી હતી. ફાયર ટીમે સતત પાણીનો મારો ચલાવી ભારે જહેમત બાદ આગ પર કાબૂ મેળવ્યો હતો. પ્રાથમિક તપાસ મુજબ આગ શોર્ટ સર્કિટના કારણે લાગી હોવાનું મનાઈ રહ્યું છે. સદનસીબે ઘટનામાં કોઈ જાનહાનિ થઈ નથી. જોકે ગોડાઉન અને ગેરેજ માલિકને લાખો રૂપિયાનું નુકસાન થયું હોવાનું સામે આવ્યું છે.
