Mexico City’s Japan nightclub is going viral for charging US citizens $300 for cover while Latin Americans and citizens from other countries are paying discounted prices. According to club owner Federico Crespo, this new policy isn’t discriminating against individuals from the US but is instead protesting the Trump admin and gentrification in Mexico City: 

“This is a response to a year of insults directed at us – as a country – by the United States… It’s very much a response to the many attacks against Mexico from Trump,” Crespo told The Guardian. “It’s a way to give that money to the people most affected by this issue: rising rents, the soaring cost of living and the need to commute longer distances to get to work.”
