there was a point where I genuinely couldn’t picture a future version of myself. everything in life ALWAYS felt temporary. in rehab they’d ask us every day, “why are you getting sober?” and honestly, back then I didn’t always have some deep inspirational answer. sometimes it was just simply because I can’t keep living like this.

but really, it was exactly this:

waking up without a hangover. walking my dog as much as he deserves. feeling present in my own life. running because I love my body instead of punishing it. building relationships I don’t have to apologize for. peace that isn’t fake or borrowed from a bottle.

getting sober gave me the chance to actually experience my life instead of constantly trying to escape it.

and that’s more than enough reason for me.
