Moroccan Fish Ball Tagine In Tomato Sauce - A classic dish of tender white fish simmered in savory tomato sauce. Here’s how to make it at home:

For The Fish Balls:⁣
2.25 whiting filets, skin removed⁣
2 garlic cloves, minced⁣
1 teaspoon ground cumin⁣
1 teaspoon ground paprika⁣
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric⁣
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper⁣
1T lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)⁣
⁣
For The Tomato Sauce:⁣
2.5lbs ripe tomatoes, grated ⁣
4T mina Moroccan olive oil⁣
3 garlic cloves, minced⁣
1.5t ground cumin⁣
1.5t ground paprika⁣
1/2t ground black pepper ⁣
1 bay leaf (optional) ⁣
1t mina harissa⁣
1.5T fresh parsley, finely chopped⁣
1.5T fresh cilantro, finely chopped ⁣
1T tomato paste ⁣(optional)
Salt to taste

For Serving:
Preserved Lemon
⁣
In a tagine or a heavy-bottomed skillet, combine all ingredients for the tomato sauce.  Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer and cook until the sauce thickens and the olive oil starts to separate, about 25-30 minutes depending on the water content of the tomatoes. Adjust seasoning as needed.
⁣
In a food processor, pulse whiting filets until finely minced.  In a mixing bowl, combine the fish with all remaining ingredients. Mix to evenly incorporate the ingredients.  Shape the mixture into small balls, just larger than the size of a walnut.  Add the fish balls into the tomato sauce. Cover tagine and cook over medium low heat for about 20 minutes until the fish balls are cooked through.  Turn the fish balls once during cooking, basting in the sauce to ensure each side is cooked in the sauce.

Serve with crusty bread and enjoy! ⁣
