Happy Birthday, bsaha! This week marks ONE WHOLE YEAR since I launched bsahashop 🎉 …and what a journey it’s been!

When I started bsaha, I wanted to create more than just an online shop. My goal was to bring a taste of familiarity and a sense of nostalgia to the North African community living abroad. Bsaha is meant to celebrate North African foods and make many of these beloved products accessible to all.

I created this brand with my grandmother in mind, who moved to the United States from Tlemcen, Algeria, in the 1940s when North African products were largely inaccessible. I often think of what a pleasure it would have been for her to have even a small taste of home here. While she’s no longer with us, she’s still my inspiration and a driving force behind bsaha.

From figuring out how to source hard-to-find products, to receiving my first pallet of Moroccan goods, to learning how to ship packages with extra fragile items (special thanks to everyone who’s had a tagine lid break or a tea glass shatter!)—it’s been a true learning experience.

I started out packing boxes in my kitchen, squeezing dozens of boxes into my car, and hustling to get your orders out the door (pictured along with the first ever delivery of inventory for the shop). One year later, we’re in our very own warehouse space, shipping hundreds of orders each month! 📦✨
