## Caption

Emina Sefić occupies a powerful place in Bosnian cultural memory through the poem Emina by Aleksa Šantić, where she became an enduring symbol of beauty, longing, and the emotional landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Invited to participate in the exhibition at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Berlin, I approached Emina not as a fixed historical figure, but as an absence within the archive. While researching her life, I found almost no trace of her inner world; no voice, no documents, no personal history. 

This silence became the core of the work. Through sculpture, assemblage, and fragmented texts, Emina’s Silence Got Under My Skin constructs a speculative counter-archive that questions how collective memory is formed? , who is allowed to remain visible in history? , and how women are often transformed into cultural symbols while their autonomy disappears from historical narratives?
