Meet Jordyn Hickey, a Master of Business Administration graduate from West Babylon, New York, and this year’s student commencement speaker for the College of Business.

Jordyn built on her undergraduate studies in marketing and public relations by pursuing her MBA, strengthening her skills in strategy, leadership, and decision-making. Through both programs, she developed a passion for communication, problem-solving, and advocacy—interests that will guide her next step into law school.

At URI, Jordyn took on a wide range of academic and leadership roles. She served as a graduate and business analytics teaching assistant, and as a social media specialist for uri_business. She was also involved in the Dean’s Advisory Council, uriwomensprelaw, and orderofomegauri, and served as vice president of philanthropy for sigdelturi. Most recently, she worked as Executive Events Coordinator for the uri.gsa senate, planning large-scale events and representing URI at the state level.

As a first-generation college student, Jordyn is most proud of the growth she experienced along the way. “There were a lot of unknowns early on, and I had to step outside of my comfort zone, ask questions, and figure things out as I went,” Jordyn said. “That process helped me grow not just academically, but personally and professionally.”

After graduation, Jordyn will attend Roger Williams University School of Law to pursue her Juris Doctor, carrying forward the confidence she built at URI in her ability to lead, communicate, and adapt.
