Some of us are naturally reflective and introspective, while others need a little nudge to slow down and think deeply. The same goes for our kids! For some, reflection comes easily—they’re quick to recall their favorite moments, big lessons, and dreams for the future. For others, it takes a little direction and creativity to help them pause, process, and share. And that’s okay!

I think it’s so important to help cultivate introspection in our kids, no matter where they are on that spectrum. Whether it’s through storytelling, art, conversation, or even playful questions, giving them tools to reflect and dream builds valuable life skills. It helps them better understand themselves, process their emotions, and connect with the world around them.

Here are a few of the questions I asked my kids today:
➡️ If we had a magic remote that could rewind, pause, or fast-forward time, what moment from last year would you rewind to? 
➡️ What’s one thing you’re really proud of from last year? 
➡️ What kind of friend do you want to be to others this year? 
➡️ If we could make up a silly family tradition for this year, what should it be? 
➡️ What’s one thing I do that makes you feel loved?
