Even BTS (bts.bighitofficial) couldn’t help but spotlight “ILMU (One Dance)” — a performance bringing Korean tradition back to life 💜

We actually introduced this performance before on eyop as “the Korean traditional performance that captivated New York” and also as a winner of the Bessie Awards 👀

While BTS have been highlighting the stories of people who “KEEP SWIMMING,” they recently shared an interview with ILMU’s creative director Jung Kuho (jung_kuho).

According to Jung Kuho, ILMU — a bold modern interpretation of a royal court dance from the Joseon dynasty — is where the roots of K-pop can be found.

With 50 dancers moving in perfect sync, traditional Korean instruments blended with modern beats, and lighting that turns the stage into a living painting… even through video, it gives you chills.

It’s not currently running right now, but honestly? We really hope it comes back someday ✨

BTS가 “KEEP SWIMMING”하는 사람들의 이야기를 조명하는 가운데, 최근 일무의 크리에이티브 디렉터 정구호 (jung_kuho)의 인터뷰도 공개됐습니다.

정구호에 따르면 조선시대 궁중무용을 현대적으로 재해석한 일무는 바로 케이팝이 어디서 왔는지 그 뿌리를 보여주는 공연이라고 하죠. (동의)

50명의 무용수들이 완벽한 합을 이루며 움직이고, 한국 전통 악기와 현대적인 비트가 어우러진 사운드, 그리고 무대를 살아있는 그림처럼 만드는 조명까지…
