#TSRUpdatez: #CorneliusSmith, one of the gunmen charged in the murder of #YoungDolph, has been sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty.

According to abc24memphis, Smith was originally charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and other charges. However, he accepted a plea agreement, and on Friday, he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, while other charges will be dropped.

Smith’s sentence will be served without parole, and his attorney, Michael Scholl,  shared that he will get time already served, leaving him with 15 years left in prison. “He’s been extremely remorseful for what’s going on, and just trying to do whatever he could do just to make things just a little bit right,” said Scholl.

Shelby County Deputy District Attorney Paul Hagerman spoke about the sentencing and Dolph’s family’s understanding. “From his arrest until now, Cornelius has accepted responsibility, and he’s agreed to cooperate. [The family] understood and they were in the loop all along that to solve complex cases like this often times you need somebody to cooperate, and that means at the end of the day you have to take a person’s cooperation and truthful testimony into consideration.”
