## Caption

When we talk about feminism in #STEM we often talk about the historical exclusion of women from the field, the lack of funding for women’s health, chilly climate, microaggressions ect.

However, we RARELY talk about how the actual symbols and equations were developed.

This was fun to write and surprising to find that Ancient mathematicians were scared by infinity and irrational numbers (they equated them with ‘feminine energy’). Then we have Freudian and Lancan interpretaitons of math symbols…
