An Alaska Airlines passenger is suing the airline after she says one of its planes suddenly dove 200 feet in severe turbulence — slamming her head and the bodies of other passengers into the cabin’s ceiling even though they were wearing seatbelts.

Natalie Russell’s lawsuit states that a flight attendant announced that the last hour of the Seattle to Phoenix flight was going to be bumpy. But the suit states that it was far more than that and the airline had a duty to heed weather warnings by avoiding the area and preventing the “extreme terror” that ultimately was inflicted upon those on board.
