There’s Wahala in store!
 
The BBC has announced casting for Wahala, the new drama adapted by BAFTA- nominated writer Theresa Ikoko. Made by Firebird Pictures, part of BBC Studios, for iPlayer and BBC One, the stellar female-led cast includes Adelayo Adedayo, Deborah Ayorinde, Cush Jumbo and Susan Wokoma, who are joined by Nigerian screen icon Genevieve Nnaji.
 
Based on Nikki May’s debut novel of the same name, Wahala (a Nigerian word meaning ‘trouble’) is a gripping and surprising six-part thriller. The show weaves between four Nigerian-British women in their thirties, navigating careers, love and family in present day London; and their childhood homes, where danger and mystery abound. When dark secrets and even darker pasts threaten to shatter the lives of the women, they and their friendships are pushed to their limit. Wahala dey o!

BBC Studios will also be handling global sales.
