Morehouse College announces the appointment of The Rev. Dr. Jason R. Curry ’92 as the second dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel following a national search. Dr. Curry will assume the role June 15, 2026, succeeding the founding dean of the Chapel, The Rev. Dr. Lawrence Edward Carter Sr., who will retire this summer after 47 years of service to the College.⁠

A nationally respected pastor, educator and higher education administrator, Dr. Curry currently serves as dean of Fisk Memorial Chapel at Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn., where he is also senior assistant vice president for academic affairs, assistant professor of religion, and director of religious life. He previously served as senior pastor of St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Harrodsburg, KY. At Fisk, he founded and advises the Fisk Memorial Chapel Assistants and the Leaders of the Interfaith Fellow Team.⁠
