A surprising category of the Indian population took the Prime Ministers call for frugality of consumption very seriously, the Billionaire Private jet owners. A consensus reached by the society of Billionaire Industrialist Tech CEOs HNI Entrepreneurs ( acronym withheld ) decided to ground their fleets to respond to the urgent needs of the nation.

India’s private jet charter fleet stood at 121 aircraft as of late 2025, making it the largest charter fleet in the Asia-Pacific region after 53.2% growth. Over 45% of the fleet comprises VIP airline, ultra-long-haul, and large-cabin jets.

A bicycle, when ridden by a human eating a reasonably normal diet, produces somewhere between 16–50g of CO2 per km (mostly from the food calories burned). A private jet emits around 8,000x that. A single private jet can emit two tonnes of CO2 in one hour — comparable to the entire annual carbon footprint of many Indians. CO2 emissions from private aviation increased by 46% between 2019 and 2023 — a period when much of the world was grounded and emissions broadly fell.

More soon as the rest of the nation heeded the call to reduce, recycle and reimagine. #thebusride #thebusridelab #indiafuturesproject indiafutureslab
