 First things first…. What is a doula? 

A doula provides professional support to new and expectant parents before, during and after birth, and in the early postpartum period. 

Here is a list of things you may actually find your doula doing for you in your birth space: 

🌿 Suggests different positions throughout labor to help your labor progress.

🌿 Comforts your nervous partner & keeps the environment and everyone around you calm.

🌿Makes sure that lights are turned down, or off. 

🌿 Protects the privacy of your birth space. 

🌿 Rubs your back during labor to help you relax. 

🌿 Reminds you of your preferences for labor when labor starts to get intense.

🌿 Supports you in getting what you need to feel safe, loved and supported. 

🌿 Explains the benefits, risks and alternatives to medical interventions so you make make an informed decision.

🌿 Reminds you to eat & Gives you ice chips between pushes.

🌿 Helps you to get your baby to latch on in the first hour.

🌿 Comes to your house after giving birth to help with house tasks such as laundry, meals and light cleaning.

🌿 Care for your baby for the night in the comfort of your home so you may get some well needed rest.
